13) Highborne Cay/Shroud's Cay

Leaving Nassau Harbor
Getting out of the slip was a heck of a lot easier than getting into it. Winds and current down. We slid out into the harbor to pass by the huge cruise ships once again.
Kim caught a baracuda.
To save time getting to Highborne Cay we had to go through the shallows. A local charter captain told John that if you go at high tide and keep watch you could get through this area and save hours. Below is what a bommie looks like from above.
John's catch of the day, half a fish. Sharks wanted half.
Below looks like a party island.
It was a perfect day on the water. The guys fishing or attempt at fishing, rainbows and a beautiful sunset. We found random mooring balls placed by the government so we snagged one for the night.
Tuesday, March 10 Shroud's Cay
Left Highborne Cay this morning to travel 3 hours to Shroud's Cay. Another beautiful day. A lot more boats around us. Most of them mega yachts. We got to our anchorage just in time for lunch.

Later we went into shore to get a hike in. There was a payment box for anchoring (we think) that you had to scale the coral head to get to. No, we did not pay. Found baby mangroves and some beach. Great view of our boat in the bay.
Heading out for a dingy ride through the rivers that lead to the Washing Machine. We are looking for turtles and sharks!
The Washing Machine is this little cove that water rushes through. So you jump in and it pushes you through the cove area and out the other side. Not my cup of tea but I did it once. Yes, Kim had to hold on to me the entire way but I can now say I did it. One and Done!
